Here is how other students answered this question:

1. In the scenario on the previous page, Mrs. Jones put a goal of 2 weeks to have her transition management strategy met.
*  Do you think this is a realistic time line? *  Why or why not?

Yes, I think 2 weeks is plenty of time....if the teacher is consistent with how they are doing the transition then it should work out

I believe that two weeks should be enough time to achieve this goal. If the teacher and the class are persistent each day, this can be achieved by then.

Two weeks are realistic with the same group of kids. Teacher have to be consistent in communicating and implementing the steps to the kids every time. New kids coming into the program will quickly observe and learn about expected behavior.

I believe that 2 weeks is enough if the teacher(s) are persistent on keeping it going and using reminders how it is done. If you average each day to about 10 different transition times that is a total of 50 per week and at the end of 2 weeks that will be the students practicing the new routine 100 times.

In general, I do think it's a realistic goal.

I'm trying to give the contrary due consideration; I don't think there's a way to really know how much time is enough and I can imagine possible factors that might change the answer.

It's important to consider what might throw off progress. For example, maybe the plan is not effective for a new student who joins the class after the first week.

I think that two weeks is a realistic timeline for this goal. Typically in my preschool classroom, I notice changes take about one week barring any outside factors affecting the change (such as a new student joining or a field trip) children learn fast and smoothly if the adults are consistent and confident in the change. So, one week to introduce and implement, and one week to work out the kinks.

I think two weeks is a bit of a short time frame depending on the age group. I think three weeks would be better as it takes a while to form a new habit for us adults so realistically it's ok to set the goal for two weeks but not to worry or give up the technique if it takes longer.
